Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment of Cuba held a fraternal encounter with Cuban residents in Austria and members of the movement of solidarity with Cuba in this country, on the occasion of her working visit to the alpine country to attend the 2nd CTBT Science and Diplomacy Symposium at the UN quarters in Vienna.
“Cuba SÍ, bloqueo NO” was the call made by "ÖKG", the Austrian-Cuban Friendship Association which gathered hundreds of participants to the public activity carried out in the Viennese district of Wieden, where ÖKG´s headquarters are located. The activity aimed at showing neighbors and visitors the solidarity work they do with Cuba and at calling the attention of new members. In a festive atmosphere enlivened by Austrian musicians and Cuban residents, the participants spoke out against the blockade and received updated information about Cuba.

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers of the Symposium for the possibility to share some Cuban experiences and perspectives on scientific diplomacy with you.
In our opinion this is a concept which is closely linked to the relations of peace among countries as its main feature is to use science and apply it to promote, improve and strengthen the ties among societies not to destroy the world and the human race.
Vienna, May 24, 2018. The Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya arrived in Vienna on the afternoon of May 24, heading the Cuban delegation that will participate in the high-level segment of the Symposium: "Science and diplomacy", organized by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBTO).
The visit performed by the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Cuba to Vienna composed of Dr. Claudio Ramos Borrego, Director of International Relations and Dr. Yudit Nápoles la O, Director of Criminal Matters provided a new impetus to the excellent bonds of cooperation traditionally maintained between the Ministries of Justice of both countries.
The Ambassador of Cuba to Austria His Excellency Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios expressed the gratitude of the Cuban Government and people to the Federal Minister for Europe, Integration, and Foreign Affairs of this country, Her Excellency Ms. Karin Kneissl for her message of condolences on the occasion of the unfortunate air crash occurred in Havana on 18 May 2018.

The President of the Supreme People's Court of Cuba, Dr. Rubén Remigio Ferro will arrive in Vienna on Sunday in front of a Delegation, on the occasion of his participation in the meeting for the launch
of the Global Judicial Integrity Network, which will take place at the Headquarters of the United Nations, in Vienna, on April 9 and 10, 2018.
