Mayor of Linz receives Cuban Ambassador to Austria

The Cuban Ambassador to Austria, Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo, visited the city of Linz, capital of the region of Upper Austria, where she was received by the Mayor, Mr. Klaus Luger.

Both authorities exchanged information on the political-economic situation of Cuba and Linz respectively and evaluated the possibilities of strengthening the existing economic and cultural ties. 

Cuba and Austria continue to strengthen relations at the highest level

On the occasion of the New Year's Reception hosted by the Federal President of Austria, Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, to the Diplomatic Corps accredited in this country; the Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency, Mrs. Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo extensively talked to the President and the authorities of the newly elected coalition government of Austria, composed of the People´s Party (ÖVP, by its German initials) and the Green Party.

The Ambassador expressed her appreciation for Dr. Heinz Fischer´s warm welcome and profound memories of the visits he made to Cuba in 1980, 2001 and 2016 and of his meetings with historic figures such as the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, the Chancellor of Dignity, Raúl Roa and Army General, Raúl Castro.

His official visit to Cuba as Federal President of Austria, in March 2016 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, marked a milestone in the friendship relations and cooperation between the two countries.
