Cambodia reiterated its support to Cuba’s presidency in G-77 and China

On 16 November 2023, Her Excellency Yentieng Puthirasmey, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, cordially received Her Excellency Liurka Rodriguez Barrios, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Both sides discussed the ways to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries. Yentieng reiterated the Kingdom’s support for the Cuban presidency of the Group of 77 + China.

Cambodia supports Cuba against U.S. blockade

Members of the Cuban Solidarity Movement in Cambodia, Cubans residents and diplomats reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for Cuba’s demand for the end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States. At the highest natural elevation of the city of Phnom Penh, Wat Non, flags of Cambodia and Cuba were raised to support the global demand for the cessation of the unjust blockade of the United States against the Island, and the exclusion from the list of sponsors of the terrorism. The vice president of the Association of Cambodian Graduates in Cuba, Bun Therun, expressed support a few hours before the United Nations General Assembly examines the draft Resolution “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.”

Cambodian prime minister to strengthen historic relations with Cuba

Prime Minister Hun Manet confirmed  his willingness to strengthen the historic ties between Cambodia and Cuba and fulfill the agreements and consensus reached in 2022 with high-level visits. The prime minister also reiterated the Cambodian Government’s unwavering position against the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by successive US administrations on Cuba for more than six decades and assured that this support would be maintained. He also stated that Phnom Penh will continue to work to remove Cuba from the list of States sponsoring terrorism, which was unilaterally drawn up by the US Government itself.

DPM Hang Chuon Naron Attends G-77 + China Summit in Cuba

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, leads a delegation to the G-77 + China Summit in Havana, Cuba, on Sept. 15-16. President of Cuba H.E. Miguel Díaz-Canel greeted dozens of heads of State and Government, and members of High-Level delegations, at the Conference Centre in this capital, the venue of the ongoing G77+China Summit where he also delivered the opening speech, said a news release from the Embassy of Cuba in Phnom Penh.

Cambodia, Cuba Discuss Possibility to Promote Their Relationship

Cambodia and Cuba have spoken with satisfaction the remarkable development in the relationship and cooperation in both the bilateral and multilateral frameworks and discussed the possibility for its further enhancement. The discussion took place here this morning between H E. CHUM Sounry, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia and H.E. Ms.  Liurka Rodríguez Barrios, Ambassador of Cuba to Cambodia.
