First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba Gerardo Peñalver Portal will pay an official visit to Cambodia this week, said Ms. Liurka Rodriguez Barrios, Ambassador of Cuba to Cambodia. Ms. Rodriguez Barrios said the most important objective of his visit to Cambodia is to arrange the exchange of high-level visit between the two countries and take the opportunity to continue discussing the plan to increase the relationship between Cuba and Cambodia.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba H.E. Gerardo Peñalver Portal will pay an official visit to Cambodia this week, said H.E. Ms. Liurka Rodriguez Barrios, Ambassador of Cuba to Cambodia. "H.E. Gerardo Peñalver Portal will arrive in Cambodia tomorrow for a three-day visit," she told AKP in an interview this morning. H.E. Ms. Liurka Rodriguez Barrios said the most important objective of his visit to Cambodia is to arrange the exchange of high-level visit between the two countries and take the opportunity to continue discussing the plan to increase the relationship between Cuba and Cambodia.
Cuban coaches arrive as volleyballers set golden SEA Games target
Cuban indoor and beach volleyball officials and coaches have arrived in Phnom Penh to provide technical assistance and coaching for the Cambodian national team. The visit comes as the Kingdom's national teams, particularly beach volleyball, ramp up their preparations to be competing for medals when the Kingdom hosts the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) next year. Bringing in the four Cuban technical officers and coaches is part of a collaboration between the Volleyball Federation of Cambodia (VFC) and the Cuban embassy in Phnom Penh.
Cuba's friendship associations with Indochina countries mark 46th anniversary
The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) on July 15 held a ceremony to celebrate the 46th founding anniversary of Cuba's friendship associations with Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The event aims to review the history of the solidarity movements of the Cuban people for the revolutionary causes of the peoples in the three Indochina countries, contributing to educating the future generations of each country about the good traditional relationship and underlining their responsibility in preserving and promoting the solidarity and friendship.
Promotion: Cuba as a destination
A few days ago, the Cuban Embassy in Phnom Penh organised a gathering with the local travel association, presenting Cuba as a destination of choice for travellers from Cambodia.The event brought together Cuban Ambassador to Cambodia Liurka Rodriguez Barrios and key leaders and stakeholders of the Cambodian tourism industry led by Sivlin Chhay, President of Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA). This was the second such event hosted by the Cuban Embassy since November 2021.
