The United States takes steps in the right direction, but the blockade remains in force.
Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba
On January 14, 2025, the government of the United States announced the following decisions:
1. Remove Cuba from the State Department list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism;
2. Make use of the presidential faculty to prevent US courts from taking action with regards to lawsuits that might be filed by virtue of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act; and
66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution is celebrated in Ontario.
In the Legislative Building of the province of Ontario, a ceremony was held to raise the Cuban flag on the 66th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.
The event, organized by the Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto, was attended by important authorities of the province of Ontario; members of the Cuban community; representatives of the consular corps from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Europe; members of solidarity organizations and friendly political parties.

Members of the Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto participated in the activity for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people together with the Palestinian community, representatives of the consular corps accredited in Toronto, Arab organizations and members of the Association of Cubans Juan Gualberto Gómez.
In the event organized by the Palestinian House of Toronto, emotional messages of solidarity were conveyed and young people from that community performed typical Palestinian dances.
