First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel and General Raúl Castro on February 3 lauded the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s leadership since its establishment in 1930. The leaders extended their congratulations to Party General Secretary To Lam on the occasion of the 95th founding anniversary of the CPV (February 3). 

In their congratulatory messages, the Cuban leaders underscored that the CPV, together with its noble citizenry, has been the primary architect of all triumphs obtained by the heroic Vietnamese nation.

Cuba rejects the decision announced by the President of the United States to use the Guantanamo Naval Base to imprison tens of thousands of migrants he has proposed to forcibly expel.  It is a demonstration of the brutality with which that government is acting to supposedly correct problems created by the economic and social conditions of that country, the government's own management and its foreign policy, including hostility towards countries of origin.

On 24 and 25 February, the Cuban Ambassador to the UK, Her Excellency Ismara Vargas Walter, attended a series of important events in Exeter organised by UNISON South West and the Cuba Solidarity Campaign. These events aimed to strengthen solidarity between the UK and Cuba by bringing together trade union leaders, regional councillors and members of the public.

The Ambassador's visit began with a fringe meeting and reception. The meeting was attended by the UNISON South West Regional Executive Committee, the Regional Secretary and around 50 people.
