British trade union support for Cuban health care

The UK Labour Party's annual conference, held this week in the city of Liverpool, was the first since the party's victory on 4 July after 14 years of Conservative Party (Tory) governments.

The event brought together representatives of Britain's main trade unions, including UNISON and UNITE, which have historically backed Labour. It was also attended by members and leaders of other national unions.

Vietnamese Deputy PM engages meeting with Cuban FM at UNGA 79

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had meeting with the foreign minister of Cuba in New York on September 22, on the sidelines of the UN Summit of the Future and the high-level general debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79).

Talking to Cuban FM Bruno Rodriguez, Son thanked the Cuban Party, State, and people for extending sympathies to Vietnam on the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi as well as the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam’s upcoming state visit to Cuba aims to implement the foreign policy set forth at the 13th National Party Congress, reaffirming Vietnam's high regard for and desire to strengthen relations with traditional friends.

It will demonstrate the steadfast, loyal, and exemplary solidarity of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam with their Cuban counterparts, said Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and Chairman of the committee’s Commission for External Relations, in an interview granted to the press ahead of the visit. It will also affirm that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam wish to accompany and cooperate with Cuba to continuously solidify, promote and advance their traditional solidarity and special friendship, he added.

Top Vietnamese leader’s Cuba visit expected to deepen traditional friendship

Cuban hero Fernando González Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), has described the upcoming state visit to Cuba by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam as a milestone in the time-honoured relationship between the two countries.

Apart from holding political importance, the visit is expected to yield positive results in economic and foreign relations, with numerous cooperation agreements and a high level of consensus in the struggle for world peace, he said in an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

Top leader of Vietnam leaves Hanoi for UNGA 79, state visit to Cuba

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President of Vietnam To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam left Hanoi on September 21 morning for a trip to attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79), hold working sessions in the US, and later pay a state visit to Cuba.

The visit to Cuba will be made at the invitation of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his spouse.
