As a result of the criminal attack perpetrated by the United States government against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, carried out in the early morning of January 3, 2026, 32 Cubans lost their lives in combat. They were serving on missions representing the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, at the request of their counterparts in the South American country.

Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association Condemns Aggression Against Venezuela

Harare, January 5, 2026 - The Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association (ZICUFA) today strongly condemned the United States' military aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its President, Nicolás Maduro.

"We express our deepest concern about this cowardly action, which constitutes a criminal act violating International Law and the Charter of the United Nations," ZICUFA stated.

Vietnamese leaders send congratulations on Cuba’s 67th National Day

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and State President Luong Cuong on December 31 jointly sent a congratulatory message to First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Caribbean country's National Day (January 1, 1959 – January 1, 2026).

Also on this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh cabled a congratulatory message to Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, while National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man extended congratulations to Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba.

Cuban Ambassador bestows Friendship Medal on Party official

Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes bestowed the Medal of Friendship from Cuba’s Council of State on Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for Policies and Strategies, during a ceremony in Hanoi on December 26.

Ambassador Fuentes said the distinction recognises Nghi’s contributions to fostering the traditional friendship, fraternal solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, noting that it is particularly meaningful during the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Special publication on Vietnam-Cuba brotherhood launched

The World and Vietnam Report under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 25 launched a special publication featuring 65 years of brotherhood between Vietnam and Cuba to mark the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (1960–2025) and the Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Year 2025.

The event was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang; Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes and his spouse; Palestinian Ambassador and Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam Saadi Salama, along with representatives of central agencies, ministries, and sectors, as well as former ambassadors and experts who studied and worked in Vietnam and Cuba.
