THE AFRICAN UNION AGAINST THE BLOCKADE TO CUBA

Addis Ababa, February 10, 2020.  The 33rd Ordinary Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union held in Ethiopia the 9 and 10 February 2020, adopted a Resolution on the impact of sanction and unilateral coercive measures.

The section A of the text condemns the unilateral sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Burundi.  On the other hand clause B included the concern by the continuous and illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba.

Cuban Embassy in Ethiopia celebrated its National Day 2020

Addis Ababa, 30 January 2019.  The Embassy of Cuba in Ethiopia celebrated the National Day of Cuba (61st  anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution).  The event was presided by the Ambassadors of Cuba to Ethiopia and the African Union, H.E. Mrs. Vilma Thomas and H.E. Mr. Angel Villa respectively.  On behalf of the Ethiopian Government, Ambassador Mahlet Hailu, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered congratulatory remarks where she highligthed the historic bonds of friendship and cooperation between Ethiopia and Cuba.

Ethiopian Prime Minister congratulates his Couban homologue

On behalf of the Ethiopian government and people, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed congratulated his newly elected Cuban counterpart, Manuel Marrero.

 

In his message, Mr. Abiy Ahmed, who was recently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, also reiterated his conviction that the future we will witness the strengthening of cooperation between Ethiopia and Cuba, for the mutual benefit of both brotherly peoples and extended its wishes of prosperity for the Cuban people.
