Cuba awarded two scholarships to South Sudanese youngsters
Addis Ababa, February 3rd 2021. Today, the Cuban Ambassador to the and African Union and Charge d´Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba to Ethiopia and South Sudan, H.E. Mr. Angel Villa Hernandez, presented the Scholarship Confirmation Form to study Medicine in Cuba, to Mr. Ryan Jibril Robo Kamanda and Mr. Yiet Kuon Bit Ruach, from the sister nation of South Sudan.
Ethiopian Ambassador presented his credentials
Havana, January 2021. The Ambassador of ten Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Mr. Shibru Mamo Kedida presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic of Cuba during a ceremony held at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana.
Both parties ratified their willigness to continue strengthening the historic bilateral links existing between the two countries.
Last year, Cuba and Ethiopia celebrated the 45 anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Ethiopian Deputy Speaker nominated the Cuban "Henry Reeve" contingent to the Nobel Peace Prize
Addis Ababa, December 30, 2021. The Deputy Speaker of the Hose of Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Honorable Mrs. Shitahe Minale, became the first parliamentarian of that nation to nominate the Cuban Medical Contingent “Henry Reeve” to the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Deputy Speaker acknowledged the outstanding results of the work of the Cuban medical teams since its inception in 2005, particularly within the African continent in the fight against epidemics like Ebola and Covid-19, as well as by facing natural disasters in different countries.
