Tribute in Guyana to the Martyrs of Barbados

Georgetown. October 6th, 2020.  This morning of October 6th, at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy of this capital, it was held an event to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack against flight CU-455 of Cubana Aviación, which is completed today 44 years. The event was presided by Ambassador Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro and officials from the Cuban diplomatic mission and a representation of the Medical Collaboration Brigade that provides services in the Guyanese sister nation.

The Ambassador and the Chief of the Medical Brigade, Dr. Grechel Chaveco, laid a wreath by the plaque that perpetuates the memory of the fallen in that horrendous act of terrorism that claimed the lives of the seventy-three people who were there on board: 57 Cubans, 11 Guyanese, including 6 young people who were going to Cuba to study medicine and engineering and 5 Korean citizens.

President of Guyana pays tribute to the Martyrs of Barbados

Georgetown, October 6th, 2020. The President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana,  Excellency Dr. Irfaan Alì, laid a wreath in front of the Monument to the Victims of Terrorism which is located in the University of Guyana and perpetuates the memory of those who died as a result of the terrorist attack against Cubana de Aviación flight CU-455, which occurred on October 6, 1976, 44 years ago, in which 73 people perished, of them 57 Cuban citizens, 11 Guyanese and 5 Koreans.

During a courtesy call today, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, His Excellency Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro, congratulated Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Honourable Hugh Todd on his recent appointment.

Georgetown, August 26, 2020. The Minister of Home Affairs of Guyana, Hon. Robeson Ben received the Ambassador of Cuba in a courtesy call which took place in a friendly and fraternal atmosphere, both parties expressed their willingness to collaborate on migration matters through mechanisms that guarantee an orderly, regular and safe migration as well as to continue strengthening the historical ties of friendship that have prevailed between Guyana and Cuba.
