President of Jamaica Senate condemns US blockade against Cuba
Kingston, Jamaica, 5 February 2020. The President of the Senate of Jamaica, the Honourable Tom Tavares-Finson, CD, QC, JP, condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US Government against the Cuban people, on the occasion of the reception for the 61st Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, held last 31 January. Addressing guests on behalf of the Government of Jamaica, he highlighted the overwhelming rejection of the international community to this US unilateral policy, and expressed:
Senate President highlights friendship between Jamaica and Cuba

Jamaica and the Republic of Cuba have enjoyed “special bonds of friendship,” since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1972, says President of the Senate, Hon. Tom Tavares-Finson.
Speaking at a reception on Friday (January 31), at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, in Kingston, to celebrate the 61st anniversary of Cuba’s National Day, Senator Tavares-Finson said that the relationship has been built on mutual respect and extensive bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Celebrated in Jamaica the 167th Anniversary of José Martí’s birth
Kingston, Jamaica, 28 January 2020. The celebration in Jamaica of the 167th anniversary of the birth of our National Hero, José Martí, took place at the Technical School that bears his name, with the presence of officials from the Cuban State Mission and members of the board of the Association of Cubans Resident in Jamaica, who were invited for the occasion.
This institution, located in Spanish Town, was a gift that the people and Government of Cuba gave to the people and Government of Jamaica 43 years ago.
A new group of Cuban health professionals arrives in Jamaica
Kingston, Jamaica, 23 January 2020. Full of expectations and with a firm vocation to serve those in need of medical assistance, a total of 40 Cuban nurses arrived in this capital.
The professionals from the Greatest Island in the Antilles received a warm welcome from authorities of the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica, who acknowledged Cuba's significant contribution to health care provision in the country.
