In recent days, prestigious Cuban artists and intellectuals have been the target of aggressions, encouraged, promoted and carried out by elements of the transnational extreme right in certain European countries. The most recent examples have been the condemnable and unpunished harassment of the Buena Fe duo in certain venues in Spain and the ignominious revocation of the status of honorary president of the Poetry Market event in France from the renowned writer Nancy Morejón.

Cuban Ambassador holds meeting with Jamaican Minister of Local Government and Rural Development

Kingston, 26 May 2023. Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica Fermin Quiñones Sanchez held a courtesy meeting with the Honourable Desmond McKenzie, CD, MP, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.

During the exchange, both parties recognised the historic ties of brotherhood between the two nations and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in various areas, including disaster management.

Guantanamo, 25 May 2023. With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 22 May, the University of Guantanamo and the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Jamaica, took further steps to deepen academic collaboration. The agreement was signed by the Rector of the University of Guantanamo Dr. C. Osiris Aranda Creagh and the Vice Chancellor of the UWI Professor Dale Webber.

Members of the Cuban State Mission in Jamaica headed by Ambassador Fermín Quiñones Sánchez and the coordinator of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Jamaica Dr. Katia Ochoa Aguilar, authorities of Jamaican health institutions and members of the movement of solidarity with Cuba celebrated the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the International Medical Collaboration at the Savanna-la-Mar Public Hospital.

A delegation of the Jamaica People's National People's Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) led by its president, Senator Gabriela Morris, is on a working visit to Havana for exchanges with the Young Communist League of Cuba (UJC) of Cuba and to participate in the meeting of the General Council of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, whose sessions begin today.
