The Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica 'Major General Antonio Maceo' joyfully salutes the 63rd Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, which was undoubtedly an event of universal significance, when for the first time in the 20th century the revolutionary vanguard of a Latin American people managed to snatch, through armed struggle, the political power from the forces of the national oligarchy allied to the imperialism.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Reflecting on Cuba’s 63rd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, on the eve of the caravan arriving in Havana on that historic day of January 8, 1959, what captivated me most of all, was the powerful and liberating example that it represented for the struggling peoples of the world, especially those in our region, desperate to throw off the yoke of oppression that dehumanize their day-day existence.

Today, the Government and people of Jamaica are honoured to join the wider Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba, in commemorating the Forty-Ninth (49th) Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between CARICOM and Cuba.
