Ambassador Mario Alzugaray visited today H.E. Teremoana Yala, High Commissioner of the Cook Islands to New Zealand, in order to coordinate his forthcoming trip to the Cook Islands to present his letters of credentials to the Queen´s Representative Tom Marsters.

Latin Club in Wellington hosts event to promote Cuban Culture

Wellington, June 30, 2016.- "Cuba: past, present and future" was the theme of an event organized by Club Latino in this city, to exchange on different topics related to the Caribbean country. Main attraction was a presentation by the Cuban Ambassador, Mario Alzugaray, who exchange with participants on the current situation of his nation, in addition to a comprehensive presentation on the history of Cuba, dedicated to explain the essential elements in the formation of the Cuban nationality.

GRULAC ambassadors support Conference on Latin American Studies in Asia and Oceania

Wellington, June 14, 2016. In a meeting held at Victoria University of Wellington with Pro Vice – Chancellor Roberto Rabel, the ambassadors of Argentina, Chile, Cuba and Mexico, exchanged had an exchange on the 7th Conference of the Council for Latin American Studies of Asia and Oceania, to be held in December in the New Zealand capital. Academics, politicians, businessmen and personalities from both regions will take part in the event to discuss links between the two sides and encourage greater links, emphasizing the role of the Pacific Ocean as a point of contact.

Cuban doctors conclude assistance mission in Fiji

Wellington, 17 may 2016.- As part of a mission to assist Fiji after the devastating effects of Cyclone Winston, a couple of doctors from the "Henry Reeves" Brigade ended their work in Suva. Epidemiologists Adrian Benitez Proenza and René Aveleira Cutiño departed back to their homeland after more than a month and half involved in diverse tasks in the Pacific Island. During their stay, both doctors worked with local health authorities and had the opportunity to exchange experiences with other colleagues from different countries.

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at New Zealand Parliament favours greater links with Cuba

Wellington, May 10th, 2016.-The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee at New Zealand Parliament, Mark Mitchell, expressed his interest in Cuba and his willingness to boost ties between the two countries. During a meeting held at Parliament House with the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, New Zealand politician also express his favourable approach in promoting an exchange with the members of the Committee he leads, in order to learn about the current status of the Caribbean island and examine opportunities for the development of bilateral relations.
