Former Prime Minister Perry Christie visits the Cuban Embassy in The Bahamas

Nassau, January 23, 2020. Cuban Ambassador Alejandro García del Toro welcomed today, in the diplomatic mission of our country in Nassau, Mr. Perry Christie, former Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. The prominent Bahamian politician, of the Progressive Liberal Party, held the position between 2002 and 2007, and subsequently in the period 2012 to 2017.

A new group of Cuban health professionals arrives in Jamaica.

Kingston, Jamaica, 23 January 2020. Full of expectations and with a firm vocation to serve those in need of medical assistance, a total of 40 Cuban nurses arrived in this capital.

The professionals from the Greatest Island in the Antilles received a warm welcome from authorities of the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica, who acknowledged Cuba's significant contribution to health care provision in the country.

Cuban Foreign Minister sent his congratulations to the new Kenyan Minister of Defense.

Nairobi, January 23. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, sent his congratulations to Ambassador Monica Juma, on the occasion of her appointment as Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Kenya.

In his message, the Cuban Foreign Minister also thanked Ambassador Juma for his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Cuba and Kenya.

New Surgical Techniques performed by Cuban Medical Specialists in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana

Guyana, Linden Hospital Complex. 23 de enero, 2020.FOLLOWING the successful completion of two complex surgical procedures, one of which was done for the first time, the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) has now placed on record that it is well on its way to conducting advanced surgeries.

A complete vaginal hysterectomy was performed by Cuban Gynecologist Specialists: Dr. Marlenis Esteris Plutin, and Dr. Yanara Salas. They were assisted by Guyanese General Medical Officer (GMO), Dr. Faith London, and anesthesiologist, Marlievys Naranjo.

Dividing the Caribbean, a new U.S. strategy

Havana, January 23, 2020. "Divide and conquer" was a phrase used by both the Roman emperor Julius Caesar and France’s Napoleon Bonaparte. Despite differences with the military tactics used by these historical figures, this approach seems to be the United States’ political strategy toward Latin America and the Caribbean, in another desperate attempt to divide peoples south of the Rio Bravo and regain ground in an area that Washington continues to consider as its “backyard."
