Cuba among countries with lowest infant mortality rates in the world

Havana, January 3, 2020. In 2019, Cuba recorded an infant mortality rate of 5.0 deaths per 1,000 live births, which places it today among the top 35 countries with the lowest rates in the world.

Figures offered by the Medical Records and Health Statistics Directorate, published by Granma newspaper, indicate that in 2019, 109,707 children were born in Cuba, 6,626 less than in the previous year. The low mortality rate also ranks Cuba among the top countries in the region.

Cuba celebrated the 61 anniversary of the triumph of the victorious socialist revolution

 

The January 1st 2020 the members of the Embassy of Cuba, together with collaborators from different sectors represented in South Africa and Cuban residents in this country, celebrated the advent of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

New BNC Director General Viengsay Valdes receives award
