Cuba sees highest average annual temperature since 1951

Havana, January 7, 2020. Cuba's average annual temperature in 2019 was the highest since 1951, reaching 1.1 degrees Celsius above the average for the period 1961-1990, reported the Institute for Meteorology today.

Last year was extremely hot, with positive anomalies in all months, particularly in February, April, May, June and October.

According to specialists at the Weather Center of the Institute of Meteorology, the hottest months were June, July, August and September, with average temperatures above 28 degrees.

Cuban president reiterates solidarity with Australia following fires

Havana, January 7, 2020. President Miguel Diaz-Canel reiterated Cuba's solidarity with Australia today, where bushfires have caused the loss of six million hectares and the deaths of about twenty people.

The president tweeted that what has happened in Australia is a result of climate change.

In another message, he pointed out that while all living species are fleeing the hell of Australia's bushfires, the US is adding fuel to another terrible fire by placing the world on the brink of war, referring to the tensions between the United States and Iran.

Diaz-Canel denounces US actions against Cuban sports

Havana, January 6, 2020. President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday denounced the actions taken by the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CPBC) to prevent Cuba from participating in the upcoming Caribbean Series.

Cuban sports are also attacked by the empire, Diaz-Canel wrote on Twitter.

On Saturday, the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) issued a communiqué informing that Cuba was marginalized from that event, scheduled from February 1-7 in Puerto Rico, due to pressure from the United States.

Cuban Foreign Ministry denounces US aims to internationalize blockade

Havana, January 4, 2020. The Helms-Burton Act aims to internationalize the US blockade against Cuba, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes this Saturday.

On Twitter, the Cuban Foreign Ministry denounced that Washington employs coercive measures against third countries under that legislation.

The Ministry adds that the goal is to hinder investment and commercial relations with Cuba.

The text emphasizes that Washington intends to submit sovereign States with an Act that supports the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
