Press Release by the Permanent Mission of Cuba to UN: USA violates its obligations under the Headquarters Agreement and prevents the presence of the Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade in the Regional Dialogue on South-South Cooperation at UNHQ.

Today, the United Nations is the venue for the Regional Interactive Dialogue of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on the priorities of the region with a view to holding the Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation, to be presided over by Cuba. At the same time, Cuba is the President Pro Tempore of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) for the biennium 2018-2020.

Declaration of the Ministry of Public Health of Republic of Cuba

The Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, committed to the solidarity and humanistic principles that have guided Cuba’s medical cooperation for 55 years, has been participating in the Program More Doctors for Brazil since its inception in August 2013. This initiative launched by Dilma Rousseff, who was at that moment the president of the Federal Republic of Brazil, pursued the double purpose of guaranteeing medical assistance to the majority of the Brazilian people, following the principle of universal health coverage promoted by the World Health Organization.

Authorities of the Kingdom of Eswatini recognize the work of Cuban medical brigade

Mbabane, November 28, 2018.- In a meeting held by the Ambassador of Cuba in that country, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, with the Acting Health Minister of Eswatini, Sen. Moses Vilakati, and the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom, Dr. Simón M. Zwane, the authorities of Eswatini recognized and thanked effusively the work done by the Cuban medical brigade in the country, with exceptional results.

President of the Senate of Eswatini receives Ambassador of Cuba

Pretoria, November 28, 2018.- The newly elected new President of the Senate of Eswatini, Mrs. Lindiwe Dlamini, received the Cuban Ambassador in that country, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, at the venue of the National Parliament in the city of Lobamba.

During the meeting, the Senator reiterated the excellent relations that exist between the two countries and the recognition of their authorities in Eswatini to the work performed by Cuban doctors in the country.

Cuba and Eswatini evaluate cooperation agreements in education

Mbabane, November 28, 2018.- In a meeting held by the Cuban Ambassador in the Kingdom of Eswatini, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, with the recently appointed new Minister of Education of that country, Lady Howard Mabuza and the Principal Secretary of the Swazi Ministry of Education, Dr. Sibongile Mtshali, both parties agreed in the interest of strengthening bilateral relations of cooperation in the education sector.

Cuban Ambassador visits the regions of Astara and Lankaran

The Cuban ambassador in Azerbaijan, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, made a working visit to the regions of Astara and Lankaran where he learned about the social and industrial development achieved in the area and the splendor of its culture and gastronomy.

The diplomat began his visit to the province of Astara where he observed the tourist and cultural development of this city bordering Iran.

In Lankaran the ambassador toured a citrus farm in the district of Hirkan and tea plantations.

He also visited the Haydar Aliyev Memorial Park and the Lankaran Ethnographic Museum.

AZERBAIJAN, CUBA DISCUSS PROSPECTS FOR TOURISM COOPERATION

Chairman of Azerbaijan`s State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev has met with Cuban Ambassador to the country Alfredo Nieves Portuondo to discuss prospects for tourism cooperation.
The sides stressed the importance of friendly relations between the two countries.
“Cuba is always interested in participating in the International Tourism and Travel Fair in Baku,” the Cuban ambassador said.
Alfredo Nieves Portuondo invited Fuad Naghiyev to attend a tourism event to be held in Havana in May, 2019.

President of the Barbadian Parliament to receive the Ambassador of Cuba.

The Speaker of the House of the Barbadian Parliament, the Honourable Arthur Holder, accepted the courtesy call by the Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernández, to follow up initiatives previously discussed with the Deputy Speaker, the Honorable Gline Clarke, especially aimed at strengthening the bonds between both legislative bodies and contributing to the integral development of bilateral relations between both countries. To this end, a draft Resolution to support Cuba in its struggle for the lifting of the blockade was reviewed and there was consensus on the relevance of submitting to the assembly the decision to create a Parliamentary Friendship Group.
