"Night Landscapes”: Exhibition of Cuban Art in Palmerston North

Palmerston North, October 13th, 2018. The exhibition "Night Landscapes" by the Cuban artist Analía Amaya was launched at the Central Library.

The work of the young artist is a recreation of nocturnal landscapes of different cities such as Havana, Santiago de Chile and Wellington. In her work, she experiments with different media such as installation, video-installation, video art and digital photograph. Lights, nature, landscape and everyday life are part of her explorations with a poetical and personal approach.

Palmerston North, October 13th, 2018. - With the exhibition of the film "El Techo" by the young Cuban director Patricia Ramos, kicked off the 17th Latin American and Spain Film Festival (LASFF) in this city of New Zealand.

The festival was part of an intense day featuring Latin culture and traditions, in which music, rhythms and dance were the core of diverse performances organized by the local community. Among them, the well-known Batucada "Samba ao Vento" and the salsa band C-26.

Third secretary Saimin Fis Abad, took part in a roundtable organized by New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) in Palmerston North, with the presence also of the Ambassadors of Argentina, Chile and Mexico, as well as representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Manawatu, the local City Council, Massey University and the Central Economic Development Agency.

The main goal of this roundtable was to have a conversation on the opportunities and potential of Latin America to expand trade and economic exchanges with New Zealand.
