The blockade: Not only unjust, but also illegal

The people of Cuba have lived, for more than half a century, under the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, and are marked by this punishment for their “deadly sin.” From the oldest to the youngest, the entire population has suffered its consequences. Many have felt its effects first hand, many others do not perceive it directly, although it affects them – perhaps because they live submerged in the habit of coexistence with the cruel policy, and keep pressing on, because as has been said: the blockade is not enough to make us surrender.

Once again the international community demands the end of the blockade against Cuba

The UN General Assembly almost unanimously adopted this Thursday, 1 November for the twenty-seventh consecutive year, the resolution demanding the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by United States against Cuba for almost 60 years.

The resolution was adopted by 189 votes in favor, 2 votes against, and 0 abstentions. The United Nations has 193 Member States.

Addis Abeba, October 31st, 2018. The diplomatic personnel of the Embassy of Cuba in Ethipia and the cooperants,  accompanied by a group of Ethio-Cubans as well as the Ambassadors of Venezuela and Ecuador, witnessed the debate of the U.N. General Assembly on the U.S. blockade to Cuba.

The Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia explained the new scenario of this year when the U.S. has presented eight ammenments to the Cuba's Draft Resolution which are unjustified and unnacceptables.

The Minister of Sports and Youth of Azerbaijan, Azad Rahimov, held a working meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Baku, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, at the headquarters of the Azeri Ministry.

The meeting was an opportune occasion to exchange on topics of mutual interest and to evaluate future collaborations in the sports sphere based on mutual benefit.

They also valued the materialization of a sports cooperation agreement between both countries.
