On October 10, 1868, the patriot lawyer Carlos Manuel de Céspedes (1819-1874) freed his slaves and took the Cubans into arms, the first founding event of the #Cuba National Liberation Revolution.

The ringing of the bell of his sugar-cane factory "La Demajagua", Manzanillo, in the east of the country, meant 150 years ago a triumph of the independence ideas, against the Hispanic fundamentalism and the reformist and annexation movements.

In the words of Céspedes that day: "The soldier of duty must not allow the aurora to surprise him in his bed."

The greatest damages in this sector include foregone income from the export of goods and services, which amount to $2,475,900,000; and the need to geographically relocate Cuban trade. For this reason, the national economy has lost $867,500,000.
