UNIDO and Cuba promote partnership at 2016 International Fair of Havana

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Cuba held a joint presentation on the Country Programme Framework (CPF) 2016-2020 at the 34th International Fair of Havana (FIHAV), consolidating their cooperation towards inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Cuba.

The CPF, signed by UNIDO and the Cuban government in December 2015, is a key tool for building the foundations for ISID in Cuba, and includes a total of 19 projects, with three of them currently being implemented.

This will be the perfect setting for researchers, executives, specialist, and technical staff to exchange and debate on the role of commerce and services for the national economic progress accordingly, with the new management models.

Press Release/ 71 UNGA: Cuba keeps up its commitment with international criminal justice.

New York, 31 October 2016. Cuba reiterated today its position in favor of the establishment of an impartial, non-selective, efficient, just and supplementary international criminal jurisdiction within the national criminal justice systems, which is truly independent and, hence, not subordinated to political interests distorting its essence.

Barbadian Health Minister highlights possibilities to expand cooperation with Cuba.

The Minister of Health of Barbados, Dr. John Boyce, emphasized the high quality of the Cuban public health system and the opportunities identified during his recently concluded visit to Havana to expand bilateral cooperation. During a political event of the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP), which was attended by several government ministers, Boyce highlighted the excellent organized program, the fruitful dialogue with his Cuban counterpart, Dr. Roberto Morales, and the exchange that occurred on the visits made to various health institutions.

The Ambassador of Cuba, Vladimir González Quesada, was received by the Minister of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, who also serves as co-president of the Cuba-Iran Intergovernmental Commission.

 

For the Iranian side Deputy Minister for International Affairs, Dr. Mohsen Asadi Lari, was also present at the meeting while Second Secretary of the Embassy, Norberto Escalona Carrillo participated for the Cuban side.

 

Caribbean Labour Congress to approve a resolution for lifting the US blockade against Cuba.

Asokore Beckles, one of the leaders of the National Union of Public Workers Barbados (NUPW), elected Assistant Secretary General of the Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL) during its 19th Triennial Delegates Meeting held in Antigua and Barbuda, delivered to Cuban Ambassador in Barbados a copy of the resolution adopted by the regional trade union body joining the international clamor for the "full, immediate and unconditional lifting of the blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba".
