In Kuwait was celebrated the Day of the Cuban Culture

Kuwait, October  21, 2016. On the occasion of the October 20, Day of Cuban Culture, the Embassy of Cuba in Kuwait recalled this important date.

Cuba's ambassador in Kuwait, Andres Gonzalez Garrido stressed the significance for all Cubans this day, in which the date of October 20, 1868 is remembered, when Cuban independence achieved their first victory against to  Spanish colonialism to take the city of Bayamo and the people sang for the first time Cuban National Anthem at theSquare.

New York, 21 October 2016. Despite the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, the reopening of embassies in both capitals and the visit of President Obama to Havana, the Embargo is still in force. A number of international and regional forums have demanded an end to that genocidal policy in special communiqués, declarations and resolutions.

The first dialogue between Cuba and the United States on disarmament and non-proliferation took place in New York on October 21, 2016.

The Cuban delegation, composed of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was led by the Head of the Department of Political Affairs of the General Division for Multilateral Affairs and International Law, Rodolfo Benitez Versón. The United States delegation, represented by State Department officials, was led by Acting Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, Thomas M. Countryman.

Diplomatic officials in Liberia talk with journalists from radio and state television on Liberian blockade against Cuba.

The headquarters of the Cuban diplomatic mission opened its doors to young Kolubah Zeyzey and Daniel Ankrah, deputy editor and producer respectively, of the Liberia Broadcasting System state broadcaster. They were received by the Charge d'Affaires Yordenis Despaigne Vera and Second Secretary Carmen Maury. The meeting is part of the actions of Cuban diplomatic mission to diversify and deepen relations with the Liberian media press and denounce the damages caused by the United States blockade against Cuba.

Cuban Deputy Chanchellor to address to the media on the US blockade

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Abelardo Moreno, addressed today to representatives of the national and foreign press the key elements of the draft resolution 70/5 that Cuba will present on Wednesday October 26 at the United Nations General Assembly, entitled "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba ". At the meeting, the Cuban deputy minister stressed that the main objective of this document is implicit in the title itself: the need to end this outdated policy and violates international law.

At the General Assembly Plenary, under Agenda item: “Commemoration of the abolition of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade”, the Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, noted that slave trade and the legacy of slavery are the root causes of profound social and economic inequalities, hatred, fanaticism, racism and prejudice that today continue to affect people of African descent.

Guyana, October 20th, 2016. Local mass media provided coverage to the press conference by the Cuban Ambassador to the country, Julio César González Marchante, on the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Cuban people by the US Government for more than five decades, and the resolution on this regard that Cuba will present to claim and end to this policy next October 26th, 2016, in the framework of the 71st Period of Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
