The prominent political scientist Dr. Joseph Tennyson published in his weekly column in the barbadian newspaper The Nation an article entitled "Persistent blockade" reflecting the strong position of the Cuban people and government against the blockade imposed by the United States nearly six decades ago which is still in force, despite the intention and the limited measures decreed by president Barack Obama.

Indonesia, September 2, 2016. Gerardo Peñalver Portal General Director for Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba makes a working visit to the Republic of Indonesia.

Peñalver held meetings with Deputy Foreign Minister A M Fachir and his counterpart the Director General for American and European Affairs Muhammad Anshor, respectively. During the exchanges both sides welcomed the good condition in which the historical bilateral relations are currently and highlighted the potential that exist to develop trade links and cooperation.

St. John’s, August 26, 2016.  On the morning of Friday 26th August, 8 new students who are the recipients of scholarships granted by the Government of Cuba to study medicine and health technology in Cuba for the year 2016-2017 were sent off from Antigua and Barbuda. 

The emotive ceremony at the headquarters of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda was chaired by the Prime Minister of that Caribbean Island, the Honorable Gaston Browne and the Ambassador of Cuba, Gustavo Veliz Olivares.

Jamaica welcomes new Cuban collaborators in Education

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, August 29th, 2016.- During this Monday afternoon, August 29th,  a new group of 21 Cuban teachers arrived in this capital to be part of the Educational Brigade in this sister nation.

Rafael Muñiz Guillén, Coordinator of the Educational Brigade in Jamaica, and Mabel Rodriguez Morera, in charge of Collaboration Office at the Embassy of Cuba, were present during the warm welcoming, as well as officials from the Ministry of Education of Jamaica.

New York, 29 August 2016.The economic, commercial and financial Embargo against Cuba remains in force. The restrictions imposed by this policy continue to be applied.

In spite of the measures adopted by President Barack Obama since December 17th, 2014 and his repeated calls on Congress to lift the blockade, the main laws and regulations supporting the Embargo against Cuba, continue to be in force and are being applied rigorously by U.S. government agencies, especially by the Departments of the Treasury and Commerce, and in particular by OFAC.
