Cuba awards the Medal of Friendship to former Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.

Kingston, 15 August 2025. The Cuban government, at the proposal of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), through Presidential Decree No. 1039 of 10 July 2025 of the President of the Republic of Cuba, awarded the Medal of Friendship to the Right Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, former Prime Minister of Jamaica.

The award recognises the deep and historic bonds of friendship and cooperation that united Portia with the Cuban people, which began during her time as a youth leader in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

From Jamaica, a new donation of medical supplies and other materials to the Cuban Health System is sent.

Kingston, 14 August 2025. Members of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and the Cuban State Mission in Jamaica coordinated the shipment of a new donation in support of the Cuban healthcare system.

The solidarity aid, which departed from Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston and arrived in the city of Santiago de Cuba, consists of approximately 500 kg of medical supplies, food and other materials, which will be distributed primarily to hospitals and healthcare institutions in this province.

The Cuban Ambassador toTürkiye, Alejandro Díaz Palacios, held a cordial meeting with Ms. Kamila Çaba, former deputy of the Justice and Development Party (AKPARTI).

During the meeting, both parties discussed issues of mutual interest, including opportunities to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Turkey. Former deputy Çaba expressed her admiration for the history, culture, and resilience of the Cuban people, while the ambassador highlighted the value of maintaining an open and constructive dialogue with political and social actors in Turkey.

The Cuban Ambassador to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Enna Viant Valdes, participated in the ceremony for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Lao Front for National Development, formerly the Lao Patriotic Front, Neo Lao Hak Xat, on August 13, 1950. By historical coincidence, our historic leader, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, had been born 24 years earlier.

At the Cuban Mission to the UN, Americans Commemorate the 99th Anniversary of Fidel Castro Ruz's Birth

On Friday afternoon, a tribute was held at the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations to mark the 99th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader and Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, with the participation of representatives from various US organizations in solidarity with our country. The event was part of the commemorations leading up to the centenary of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, to be celebrated in 2026.
