Victoria, 18 August._ Marie-Christine Stephania Ah-Kon and Iven Travis Rachel expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to train in Cuba as future doctors during a meeting with Tomás Méndez Parra, Minister Counselor of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Victoria.
Both young students will soon travel to the island to begin their training at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in September.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba informs that Salvadoran national Otto René Rodríguez Llerena, who had been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his involvement in the terrorist bombing of a hotel in Cuba in 1997, has served his sentence and, in accordance to the national legislation, has been released.

Melbourne, 17 August 2025 – The Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Tanieris Diéguez La O, awarded the Medal of Friendship to Maree Dellora, president of the Melbourne branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), in recognition of her more than 40 years of dedication to the solidarity movement with Cuba.
The presentation was an emotional tribute to Dellora's tireless work in promoting friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Australia.
