Just hours before the UNGA vote, Liberia-Cuba friendship group issues statement condemning the blockade against the island.

Monrovia, June 21, 2021 - As a sign of the solidarity that unites them with the Cuban people, members of the Liberia-Cuba friendship group sent a statement condemning the economic and commercial blockade of the United States against Cuba.

They underline in their letter that the blockade contradicts the basic principles of international dialogue and the tendencies towards the formation of a multipolar world, which should be based on the equality and sovereignty of the peoples.

Solidarity with Cuba continues in New Zealand.

Auckland. 19th of June. With the presence of the Cuban Ambassador, the friendship groups with Cuba held a public act and fundraising dinner as part of the international campaign against the blockade and in support of the purchase of syringes to combat COVID 19 on the island.

Organized by the Auckland Cuba Friendship Society, the event took place at the Auckland Trades Hall, with the presence of more than 30 national activists and

union leaders.

“Bridges of Love” in New Zealand.

Wellington, May 30. Members of the solidarity groups with Cuba joined this Saturday and Sunday to the world day against the blockade in the cities of Auckland and Wellington, with a caravan of cars and other protest actions against the hostile policy of the United States against the Cuban people.

Thousands of kilometers from the island, the “Bridges of Love” are strengthened. Thanks to everyone who supports our cause.

Cuban Ambassador participates in commemoration of May 1st.

Blackball, May 1. The Cuban Ambassador attended the commemoration of International Labor Day in Blackball, along with the Member of Parliament for the Labor Party Angela Roberts, Union leaders and members of solidarity groups with Cuba.

It was an opportunity to share our experience and appreciate the work of the community in solving their problems.

We received numerous displays of solidarity and respect for the Cuban Revolution.

Solidarity at sea.

Wellington, April 30. On the occasion of a trip to the South Island to attend the commemoration of International Labor Day in Blackball, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés was invited to participate in an act of support for Cuba and rejection of the US blockade, on the deck of the ferry, organized by the Maritime Union of New Zealand.

This union approved a motion to support Cuba in its last National Assembly and has a long tradition of solidarity with the island.

 

Cuban Ambassador talks with Co-President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Wellington, April 13. Cuban Ambassador Edgardo Valdés met in Congress with Angela Roberts, a parliamentarian for the Labor Party and co-president of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Latin America and the Caribbean.

In a very friendly atmosphere, they exchanged extensively on the situation in Cuba and foreign policy issues, including the relationship with New Zealand and our cooperation with the Caribbean and the Pacific.

They identified topics for future exchanges between our parliamentarians, including health, education, and the environment.

 

Meeting with friends of Cuba in Auckland.

Auckland, April 8. The Cuban Ambassador attended a meeting with 20 leaders of the First Union, other Unions, and members of the board of solidarity groups with Cuba.

At the meeting, a recorded message of thanks was transmitted from Leima Martínez, Director of Asia / Pacific of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), and the Ambassador made a presentation on the situation in Cuba, the perspectives of relations with the United States, the good state of ties with New Zealand and the upcoming debate on the blockade in the United Nations General Assembly.

Conference of the Cuban Ambassador at the University of Auckland.

Auckland, April 8. Cuban Ambassador Edgardo Valdés made a presentation at the University of Auckland, organized by the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) and the NZ / Latin America Business Council (LANZBC).

It was attended by 45 academics, businessmen, students, and members of solidarity groups.

After a presentation on relations with the United States, our foreign policy, business opportunities, and recent economic changes in Cuba, the Ambassador answered numerous questions that showed interest in the island.

Liberia-Cuba Friendship Group congratulates OPJM and UJC on their founding anniversaries.

Monrovia, April 3, 2021 - This morning, we received a visit from the directive member of the Liberia-Cuba Friendship Group, Mr. William Wesseh, who was the bearer of a letter of congratulations from the members of the Liberian solidarity organization.

In the letter, the Liberian friends congratulate the Organization of José Martí Pioneers (OPJM) on its 60th anniversary and the Union of Young Communists (UJC) on its 59th anniversary, to be celebrated tomorrow April 4.
