The Book “Tricontinental, Havana 1966” launched in South Africa
Johannesburg, March 5, 2026.—Cuba’s ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, accompanied by other officials from the diplomatic mission, participated in the launch of the book “Tricontinental, Havana 1966,” which took place at The Forge, in the heart of the South African city. The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, Solly Mapaila, as well as the former Minister of Intelligence and great friend of Cuba, Ronnie Kasrils, were also present.
Tribute to Chávez in Freedom Park, South Africa
Pretoria, March 4, 2026. Officials of the Cuban Embassy in South Africa participated in a tribute held in Freedom Park in honor of Venezuelan leader Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías on the thirteenth anniversary of his passing. In this symbolic tribute, Cuban Ambassador Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo referred to Chávez as “Cuba's best friend,” as Fidel had described him, and noted that he will always be present in the hearts of all Cubans.
South African Provincial Legislatures debates touch on Cuba
Pretoria, February 28, 2026.- The wave of solidarity with Cuba in South Africa has even reached the provincial legislatures, where comrades and friends have raised their voices in defense of Cuban sovereignty and have spoken out against the United States' renewed aggression toward the island. These expressions of solidarity reaffirm the strong and historic ties between our peoples and governments, forged in the struggle against colonialism and imperialism, and reiterate the South African people's support for the Cuban people in their struggle against US aggression.
ANC and SACP in permanent solidarity with Cuba
Pretoria, 25 February 2026.- The head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Emilio Lozada García, held two virtual meetings with the secretary general of the African National Congress (ANC), Fikile Mbalula and with General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Solly Mapaila. These meetings reaffirm the solid and historic ties that exist between the Cuban and South African peoples, united by their tradition of struggle and opposition to colonialism.
