Association of South African Graduates in Cuba rejects US presence in Latin America and the Caribbean

Pretoria, September 20, 2025.- The Association of South African Graduates in Cuba (CAASA) issued a message of solidarity with Cuba, Venezuela, and the rest of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean following recent threats from the US administration. The statement condemns the US military presence in the Caribbean Sea and surrounding areas and calls for the withdrawal of troops.

COSATU Central Committee reafirms solidarity with Cuba

Pretoria, September 18, 2025.- The Central Committee of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) approved in its final resolution an increase in solidarity actions with Cuba, especially in the fight against the genocidal blockade imposed by the United States and the removal of Cuba from the unjust and unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, which has such a devastating effect on the Caribbean people.

Cuba present at COSATU´s 8th Central Committee

Benoni, 15 September 2025 – The Second Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in South Africa, Bryan Betancourt Brito, participated in the opening day of the 8th Central Committee of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU). The central committee is meeting from today until Thursday, 18 September under the theme “Building working-class unity for economic liberation towards socialism”.

Cubans celebrate the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre, the Patron Saint of Cuba

Havana, September 8, 2025.- Cubans celebrate today the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre, Patroness of Cuba, a solemn appointment proclaimed by Pope Benedict XV in 1916, at the request of veterans of the War of Independence. The feast day of the image is commemorated on September 8, the birth and nativity of the Virgin Mary. She is also called Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre or simply Cachita.
