Relations run deep between Cuba and South Africa
Pretoria, 18 June 2024 - The Cuban Deputy President Salvador Valdés Mesa was received by the General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Solly Mapaila. The meeting highlighted the excellent level of party relations and acknowledged the strength of the ties of solidarity between Cuba and South Africa. Mapaila also reaffirmed the SACP's support to the Cuban Revolution.
The eternal tribute to our internationalist heroes
Pretoria, 18 June 2024 - The Deputy President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, together with the delegation accompanying him, began his official program of activities in South Africa on 18 June at Freedom Park in Pretoria. There, he paid a heartfelt tribute to the more than two thousand Cuban fighters who died in the struggle for African independence and held a meeting with members Cuban collaborators and representatives of the solidarity movement with Cuba.
Cuban Deputy President Salvador Valdés Mesa arrives to South Africa
Pretoria, 18 June 2024 - The Deputy President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, arrived to South Africa this morning to attend the inauguration of the re-elected President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa. He was received at Johannesburg's Oliver R. Tambo International Airport by the minister of Basic Education, Ms Angie Motshekga and Ambassador Msoliza Bona, from the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).
South Africa demands at the UN the removal of Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List
Pretoria, 13 June 2024 - South Africa rejected the full application of the Helms-Burton Act against Cuba and called for the removal of the island from the spurious and arbitrary State Sponsors of Terrorism List this past Thursday at the United Nations General Assembly. South Africa's representative called it a "unfounded designation".
General Secretary of the South African Communist Party condemns US sanctions against Cuba
Johannesburg, 11 June 2024 - The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Solly Mapaila, condemned the blockade and sanctions imposed by the United States government against Cuba and reiterated his party's firm position of support for the Cuban government and people. Mapaila defended Cuba as an independent, sovereign and free nation building its own socialism.
