South Africa celebrates National Women's Day
Pretoria, 09 August 2024 - Today, South Africa celebrates National Women's Day in honour of the thousands of women who marched on the Union Buildings in 1956 to protest against laws that required black people to carry a special 'pass' or identity card that proved they could enter an area reserved for white people. This was one of the key laws of the apartheid regime and severely restricted black people's freedom of movement.
Cuban Ambassador to South Africa is received by DIRCO´s Director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean

South Africa's Deputy Minister of DIRCO commemorates Cuban Moncada heroism
Pretoria, 26 July 2024 - South Africa's Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Alvin Botes, dedicated an emotional article to the 71st anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, published in the African National Congress-ANC magazine, in which he reflected on the 26 July Movement, cooperation between Cuba and the African continent, relations with South Africa and the blockade against the island.
ANC Secretary General reaffirms solidarity with Cuba
Cape Town, 20 July 2024 - The African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula has stressed in an interview that international solidarity remains a priority for the party, including the support for Cuba in its just struggle against the US economic, trade and financial blockade. He identified the Palestinian, Sahrawi and Cuban causes as the party's foreign policy priorities.
