Cuba defends life

Havana, May 29, 2020. Cuba’s accomplishments in the COVID-19 battle do not appear in major media headlines these days. Once again, silence reigns as we defeat the virus, blow by blow, sparing no effort or resource, despite the ironclad U.S. blockade that persists, damages, limits and makes everything more expensive. Amidst this relentless struggle for our people, we also share with those in need beyond our borders.

Cuba denounces the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on the response of developing countries against COVID-19

New York, 27 May 2020. Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodriguez Abascal, Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations and Chargé d´Affaires a.i., participated today in the Dialogue with UN Deputy Secretary-General and Heads of entities, as part of the ECOSOC Operational Activities for Development Segment, which took place under the theme: Working together to accelerate Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) progress during the Decade of Action and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Twenty days of complicit silence

Havana, May 21, 2020. Twenty days since the terrorist attack on Cuba’s embassy in Washington, neither the event itself, nor repeated demands for official information by our government, seem to be of importance to authorities in the country where the deplorable act took place.

Cuba calls for Latin American integration and solidarity to tackle COVID-19

New York, 15 May 2020. In its capacity as President pro-tempore of ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean), Cuba presided today the virtual preparatory briefing of the ECOSOC Operational Activities for Development Segment. Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of ECLAC and representatives of Member States of Latin America and the Caribbean participated in the briefing.
