New Areas of Zimbabwe-Cuba Educational Cooperation Identified

Harare, April 9, 2025— The Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency Susellys Pérez Mesa, and the Vice-Rector of the Bindura University of Educational Sciences, Prof. Eddie Mwenje, today identified new areas to strengthen ties between the Caribbean nation and the Zimbabwe Center for Advanced Studies.

The diplomat and senior management of the institution, located approximately 90 kilometers south of this capital, highlighted the traditional educational cooperation between Cuban institutions and the interest in strengthening them.

Zimbabwe and Cuba for Media Cooperation from the Global South

Harare, April 8, 2025—Cuba and Zimbabwe today advocated for strengthening media cooperation from the Global South during a meeting between the Ambassador, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa, and the Vice Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting, Hon. Dr. Omphile Marupi.

The need to tell the truth in their own language and sources, to combat disinformation and to defend history, marked the cordial dialogue held at the headquarters of the Cuban Mission in this capital.

Zimbabwe-Cuba brotherhood strengthens in face of current challenges

Harare, 24 March 2025- The Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E. Susellys Pérez Mesa, denounced the effects of the criminal US blockade of the island and the coercive unilateral measures against both nations.

   In an interview with The Herald, the Head of the Diplomatic Mission assured that the blockade imposed on the largest of the Antilles is the main obstacle to our development as a country, but it is also a flagrant violation of the human rights of its population.

Havana, March 19 - Zimbabwe's Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Omphile Marupi, highlighted today in this capital the importance of cooperation with Cuba in the field of media communication.

The existence of an agreement between the Zimbabwean news agency New Ziana and its Cuban counterpart Prensa Latina allows for the sharing of mutual content and strengthens bilateral relations, the deputy minister of that ministry stated in exclusive statements to this media outlet.

Cuban Medical Brigade provides healthcare in Zimbabwe

Harare, March 16, 2025 - The Cuban Medical Brigade in Zimbabwe held a Health Fair today to serve dozens of children and patients in need in the cities of Bulawayo and Chitungwiza.

At the Bulawayo hospital, about 400 kilometers southwest of this capital, doctors from various specialties treated nearly 80 residents suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease, and the human immunodeficiency virus, among other ailments.

Harare, March 14, 2025 – Zimbabwe demonstrates the importance of communication with the participation of two deputy ministers in the ministerial forum and the fourth edition of the Patria International Colloquium, scheduled for March 17-19 in Cuba.

The Deputy Ministers of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Omphile Marupi, and of Information Technology, Communications, and Postal Services, Dingumuzi Phuti, are leading the African country's delegation to the important events planned in Havana.

President of Zimbabwe receives letters of credence from the Ambassador of Cuba

Harare, February 27, 2025- The President of Zimbabwe, Hon. Mr. Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, today received the letters of credence of the Ambassador of Cuba, Her Excellency. Mrs. Susellys Pérez Mesa, with the renewed commitment to strengthen the historic relations between the two countries.

The dignitary ratified the decision to promote ties in new areas of common interest after highlighting the significant cooperation, especially in education and health, as well as the contribution of Cuba to the independence of Africa.

 

Zimbabwe calls for an end to the blockade and to remove Cuba from the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism

Harare, February 27, 2025- The President of Zimbabwe, Hon. Mr. Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, today demanded the end of the United States blockade of Cuba and its removal from the list of nations that supposedly sponsor terrorism.

   In an emotional exchange after the official ceremony for the delivery of the letters of credence of the Ambassador of Cuba, Her Excellency. Mrs. Susellys Pérez Mesa, the president rejected the policy of unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Caribbean country, from which Zimbabwe also suffers its consequences.
