The 93rd anniversary of the birth of the Commander in Chief was celebrated yesterday, August 13th, in Saint Lucia, with a cultural activity in which the President of the Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia - Cuba), Marlene Alexander participated as well as the members of the Cuban State Mission in this country, led by the Ambassador Alejandro Simancas.
The Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia - Cuba) issued a Communique in which they celebrate the 93rd Anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. The text highlights the indisputable leadership and example of Fidel not only in Cuba, but rather in Latin America and the region. The Honourable Mary Isaac, Minister of Health and Wellness of Saint Lucia and Alejandro Simancas Marín, Ambassador of Cuba to this country, formally awarded scholarships to the new students entering the upcoming Academic years studying different specialties in Cuba. In an emotional activity at the Embassy of Cuba, the group of young people selected, accompanied by their families signed the Grant Form through which they were formally granted the scholarship and, also, the Code of Ethics for Foreign Students in Cuba.
The Humanistic Solidarity Association Saint Lucia-Cuba is deeply concerned with the further strengthening of sanctions by the United States embargo against the government and people of Cuba.
The Cuban Ambassador, Alejandro Simancas, visited the community of Canaries on the western coast of Saint Lucia, where a pilot project will be initiated in Saint Lucia from the renowned Cuban Literacy Program “Yo sí puedo”.
