Once again, the Buena Vista Social Club is the inspiration for a story about one of the legendary groups of Cuban musicians who cultivated Son Cubano in the 1930s-1950s, some of whom reunited in 1996. Since then, their recordings and international performances have transcended with a Grammy Award and an Oscar nomination for the film Buena Vista Social Club.
Kuala Lumpur, June 9—The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Yadira Ledesma Hernández, met with the Chairman of the Special Select Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Malaysian Parliament, the Honorable Wong Chen.
The occasion was an opportune moment to discuss the historic ties of friendship between the two countries, which celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.
