With a call to defend the principles of the United Nations and strengthen its role on the international scene, the Cuban Embassy participated in the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of that Organization and for Human Rights Day, which took place in Nadi, to the west of the country.

Cuba reaffirmed its solidarity with the Pacific Islands and reiterated the imperative to implement urgent actions and more ambitious commitments that contribute to mitigate or eliminate the effects of climate variations, by intervening in the High-Level Roundtable on Urgent Climate Change Action, hosted virtually by the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Secretariat.

Twenty eight years ago, in a brief and memorable speech, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz set off the alarms on the most serious danger facing the human species. Global acceptance of climate change took years in materializing and it is still partial, incomplete and distant from the urgent and articulated actions that this problem demands.

The Seventh Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CARICOM-Cuba mechanism will be held on December 8 this year. This is an important forum whose efforts are focused on the strengthening of relations between the Caribbean Community and Cuba and finding solutions to the most pressing problems affecting the region, such as climate change effects and development challenges.

These Summits are being held every three years since 2002, on alternate venues between our country and CARICOM States.

Vietnam leaders congratulate Cuba on the anniversary of diplomatic relations

Top leaders of Vietnam sent messages of congratulations to their Cuban counterparts and to the people of the island on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

General secretary of the Communist Party and president of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, conveyed his congratulations to the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro, and to the president of the Caribbean nation, Miguel Díaz-Canel.
