Friends of Cuba in Laos begin centennial celebration of Fidel Castro's birthday

Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister Expresses Unwavering Solidarity with Laos

Vientiane, July 25, 2025. Cuba's First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), Gerardo Peñalver, today expressed the strong bonds of solidarity that unite his country and Laos, two nations that, he said, share a very close relationship.

This unwavering solidarity dates back to the early 1970s, when our doctors arrived at the Viengsay caves to care for the Laotian people. It is also reflected in Laos' unwavering support for Cuba in its condemnation of the United States' economic, financial, and commercial bloc, he emphasized.

The 72nd anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada Barracks was celebrated in Lao PDR.

Com. Chaleun Yiapaoheu, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice President of the National Assembly, and President of the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association, received a courtesy visit from Mr. Gerardo Peñalver Portal, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, and his delegation, on the occasion of their visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic and other countries in the Asian region.
