Namibia, February 10th, 2021- H.E. Nangolo Mbumba, member of the SWAPO Party Political Bureau and Vice President of Namibia, received at the headquarters of his offices Sidenio Acosta, the Ambassador of Cuba to this African country. In the pleasant meeting, both exchanged on the state of the historical bilateral relations and other current international issues.
Namibia, February 4th, 2021- The Government of the Republic of Namibia unanimously approved the nomination of the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade for the Nobel Peace Prize, as reported in a press release by the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) of the African country.
Namibia, January 28th, 2021- On the occasion of the 168th Anniversary of the Birth of José Martí, National Hero of Cuba, the Ambassador of Cuba to Namibia, Sidenio Acosta, gave Martha Shilyomunhu, Principal of the “Fidel Castro Ruz” Primary School, a reproduction of a portrait of the Apostle, made by the Cuban painter and patriot Armando García Menocal.
Namibia, December 16th, 2020 - At the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Namibia, the young Matheus Natangwe Mwelihanyeka signed, in an official ceremony, the documents that endorse the beginning of his studies in Medicine in Cuba, as part of a scholarship granted by the Cuban government. Matheus was selected from a large group of candidates for his excellent academic results.
Namibia, December 4th, 2020 - The Cuban Ambassador to Namibia, Sidenio Acosta, and the Director of West Africa and America of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of this country, Ms. Helena Kuzee, led, for their respective parts, a meeting to review the status of cooperation between both countries.
Namibia, November 29th, 2020 - Namibia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Hon. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, expressed her solidarity with Cuba and stated the wish that "with the changes that have taken place in the United States, the path to normalization of relations between the two countries be resumed." She also highlighted the rapprochement between the two countries, under the leadership of Army General Raúl Castro and former US President Barack Obama.
Namibia, November 25th, 2020- On the fourth anniversary of the death of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, Cubans and Namibians attended the primary school that bears his name, in Katutura, a neighbourhood of the capital Windhoek, to lay a wreath. The Ambassador of Cuba, Sidenio Acosta, and other members of the diplomatic mission, the school director, Martha Shilyomunhu, teachers and students, Cuban cooperators, Namibians who are members of solidarity with Cuba and Cubans residing in this country were present.
