Governor General of New Zealand confirms interest in promoting progress in relations with Cuba.

Wellington, September 24th, 2019. In a courtesy call payed by Ambassador Mario Alzugaray, the Governor General, Dame Patsy Reddy, confirmed New Zealand's interest in exploring ways to further improve bilateral relations, in areas of interests for both nations.

The Cuban diplomat highlighted the importance that Cuba attaches to links with New Zealand, based on mutual respect and trust, taking into account that both are small and distant nations that have managed to maintain mutual attention, with practical results in bilateral cooperation and on issues of mutual interest.

MEDICC Review Journal publishes special issue dedicated to the Cuban Public Health System.

New York, 24 September 2019. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla was invited to participate today in the launching of the October issue of the MEDICC Review Journal. The issue was dedicated to Cuba's contributions to universal global health through South-South cooperation and was hosted by the Ford Foundation. The event took place one day after a High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage was held at the United Nations.

Good evening ladies and gentleman.

I wish to thank the Editors of MEDICC for inviting us to the launch of this special issue and I want to congratulate them for an outstanding work.

With all the current scientific progress and the immense accumulated wealth, half of the world´s 7.3 billion inhabitants remain without basic health services.  Of the 60 million deaths in 2016, 54 per cent were caused by the ten main curable diseases.

SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES-CUBA FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION CONDEMNS ESCALATION OF US BLOCKADE AGAINST CUBA AND CALLS FOR SOLIDARITY ACTIVITY WITH THE GREATER OF THE ANTILLES

With a strong Declaration condemning the intensification of the US blockade against Cuba and the vileness of the restrictive measures dictated by the Government of that country against the largest of the Antilles, the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines-Cuba Friendship Association has addressed the press and Vincentian society.

Minister of Higher Education of Zimbabwe makes official visit to Cuba

Accompanied by a large delegation of professors and researchers, which include the rectors of the universities of Zimbabwe, Chinoyi, and the Harare Institute of Technology, Professor Dr. Amon Murwira, Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technological Development from Zimbabwe, began a week-long visit to Cuba. During the visit, Dr. Murwira held a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Dr. José Ramón Saborido, in which he sought to identify new areas of cooperation between the two countries on issues of common interest.

Nigeria Hosts African Solidarity Meeting With Cuba

NEWS leadership, 17 September 2019. The Nigeria Movement of Solidarity with Cuba is set to host its 6th Solidarity meeting from September 23 to September  25 in Abuja, to pressure the US government to lift its over 50-year blockade on Cuba. The movement comprises labour centres such as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and coalition of other Civil Society groups and women organisations.

Cuba overcomes ‘first stage’ of fuel shortage

Havana, Cuba, 22 September 2019. By The Mast. PRESIDENT Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez says Cuba has overcome the first stage of fuel shortage with minimum impact. During a meeting to evaluate measures taken in Cuba’s western province of Pinar Del Rio to address the difficult energy situation, President Díaz-Canel blamed the shortages on the US government which has placed sanctions on Venezuela, the chief oil supplier for Cuba.
