Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister received the First Vice President of Cuba

Addis Ababa, 29 May 2019.  The Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Mr. Demeke Mekonnen received the First Vice President of Cuba on the occasion of his visit to Ethiopia.

During the meeting, both parties analyzed the current cooperation and the perspectives to expand it to other sectors.

In attendance, the Ministers, State Ministers and Permanent secretaries of different Ethiopian Ministries. 

First Vice President of Cuba started visit to Ethiopia and the AU

Addia Ababa, 29 May 2019.  The First Vice President of the Council of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba arrived to Ethiopia on official visit.  He was received by the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Makos Tekle.

The visit will take place till May 31st and the Cuban leader will have a bilateral program with Ethiopia and a the African Union Commission, respectively.   

US won’t suffocate, stop us – Cuba

On Tuesday, the US departments of Treasury and Commerce added sanctions announced on April 17, and the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, the prohibition of “people to people” cultural and educational trips, plus other restrictions on travel and transportation services, remittances, banking, commerce, and telecommunications. Reacting to the move via Twitter, President Díaz-Canel noted that the US government of Donald Trump was keeping its “perverse efforts to crush Cuba” with new measures intensifying the blockade which violates international law.

Cuba and Ontario Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Toronto, June 7, 2019 Ottawa.- Cuban Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, paid her first official visit to the province of Ontario from June 5-7, 2019.

During her stay in Toronto, the Cuban diplomat completed an extensive programme, which comprised courtesy calls on Ontario´s government authorities and a community conversation on Cuba´s new Constitution at the University of York.

The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario; the Honourable Ted Arnott, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario; and Mr. John Tory, Mayor of the City of Toronto, received H.E. Vidal Ferreiro.

She also attended a reception offered by the Premier of Ontario, the Honourable Doug Ford, to Heads of Consular and Diplomatic Posts accredited in that province.

Norwegian Cruise Confirms Losses by Trump's Action against Cuba.

Washington, June 7, 2019. Norwegian Cruise has predicted Friday an eight percent drop in profits from the U.S. decision to cancel cruise ship travel to Cuba in 2019.

The company specified that in an extremely short period of time it had to modify itineraries to comply with the new restrictions imposed by President Donald Trump.

This modification, the substantial discounts offered to guests to maintain their bookings, cancellations and investment in marketing to support the fall in sales, will generate a negative impact, it said in a statement.
