The fires that started on August 5th at the Supertanker Depot in the Matanzas Industrial Zone are being courageously fought by Cuban firefighters alongside specialists from Venezuela and Mexico. The Communist Party of Norway salutes not only them, but the citizens of Matanzas in their brave perseverance while facing this disaster, and their friends and families all over Cuba.

The Communist Party of Norway sends our regards to the Cuban embassy and the Communist Party of Cuba on the occasion of comrade Fidel Castro’s 96th birthday. We honor his struggle against imperialism, for a Cuba that provides access to healthcare for not only the people of Cuba, despite facing an imperialist blockade, but to millions of people around the world, a Cuba that helped end Apartheid and helps people around the world in the face of natural disasters. Doctors, not bombs!

The Norway-Cuba Friendship Association (Cubaforeningen i Norge) expresses its unwavering solidarity and support for the Cuban people in the face of the tragic disaster that struck the Supertanker Base in Matanzas last Friday. We send our condolences and love to the families and friends of those who have died, who were injured, and who are still missing following the devastating fire.
