The press in Grenada has given wide coverage to the solidarity campaign with Cuba promoted by the group Citizens for Cuba (CRC), under the slogan “Grateful Granada gives back to Cuba.” The initiative will take place between April 14 and May 14, 2026, coinciding with the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Members of the Cuban mission in Grenada recently participated in the "My Signature for the Homeland" ceremony, where they reaffirmed their commitment to peace and the defense of the nation with their signatures. At the ceremony, led by Ambassador Yadirys Echenique Paz, the Cuban consul in Grenada, Ariel Pazos Ortiz, read the official statement.
The government of Grenada has confirmed its contribution of US$500,000 as part of the CARICOM-approved initiative to support the Cuban people amidst their current difficulties.
During the announcement, Grenadian Minister of Education David Andrew emphasized that this funding will be used to purchase humanitarian supplies. “Although our government, our population, and our economy are small, we can support our brothers and sisters in Cuba with humanitarian aid at this time,” Minister Andrew stated.
The solidarity initiative with Cuba taking place in Grenada between April 14 and May 14 has gained new momentum with the active participation of churches across the country. Special collections have been announced in churches and congregations as part of the national campaign led by the Citizens for Cuba (CRC) group.
