Celebrated in Jamaica 61st anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

Representatives of the Cuban State Mission in Jamaica, the Association of Cuban Residents (ACREJ) "Antonio Maceo" and the solidarity movement with Cuba, met at the Embassy of Cuba to celebrate the advent of a new year and, with it, the 61st Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.

KINGSTON, December 17, 2019 - The Jamaica Cuba Friendship Association (JCFA) has called on the administration of the United States of America to unconditionally lift what it says is "the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of [Cuba] our sister country, whose anachronistic retention, is a bare-faced and arrogant repudiation of international law, a systematic violation of the Human Rights of the Cuban People and an act of Genocide under the 1948 United Nations ‘Convention on the Punishment of the Crime of Genocide." 

Inaugurated Joint Center of Studies between the University of Havana and the UWI

In the context of the XIII International Conference on Caribbean Studies, celebrated between December 9th and 11th in the University of Havana, the Joint Center for the Sustainable Development of the Caribbean was officially inaugurated.

The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Miriam Nicado, chancellor of the UH, and by Dr. Hilary Beckles, vice chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI).
