The arrival of doctors and nurses from the Greatest Island in the Antilles reconfirms Cuba's vocation for solidarity in a scenario marked by a complex international epidemiological situation, and validates Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel's statement at the opening session of the recently held Seventh CARICOM-Cuba Summit, when he said:

The Norwegian Nobel Committee today notified that the Jamaica Peace Council had completed the formalities required to officially nominate the International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disasters and Serious Epidemics "Henry Reeve" as a candidate for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.

The news was made public by the President of the Jamaica Peace Council, Hope McNish, after receiving the supporting email from the Norwegian institution.
