Jamaican scholar calls for an end of the US blockade on Cuba

Jamaican scholar and columnist Louis E. A. Moyston advocated today before the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for an end to the U.S. blockade against Cuba, imposed for six decades.

Kingston, Jamaica, 20 September 2020. Jamaican scholar and columnist Louis E. A. Moyston advocated today before the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for an end to the U.S. blockade against Cuba, imposed for six decades.

In a request letter sent to CARICOM’s current chair and Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, Moyston asked to explore the possibility of building alliances at the United Nations to demand the end of Washington's blockade on Havana.

The Foreign Language Curriculum for these trainee teachers include language immersion in a Spanish-speaking country and, for those who are unable to travel abroad, the alternative of local immersion. However, the spread of Covid-19 poses a new variant: virtual immersion.

A combination of creativity and the will to honour the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution, was the key to overcoming the physical distancing imposed by Covid-19 and developing a wide, varied, political-cultural activity via Internet, attended by about 20 speakers and marked by the projection of videos about Fidel and his relationship with Jamaica and the performance of prestigious artists.
