Pretoria, March 17, 2026.—Veterans of South Africa’s liberation struggles, organized under the ANC Veterans’ League, held an emotional virtual meeting in which they reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with Cuba in the face of ongoing threats from U.S. imperialism against the island. Cuban Ambassador Fakri Rodríguez thanked them for their unwavering determination to stand with Cuba through solidarity initiatives.
Pretoria, March 13, 2026.—Around 28 African political parties and progressive organizations signed a strong declaration of solidarity with the people and government of Cuba in response to recent threats and acts of aggression by the United States against the island. The Cuban ambassador expressed our people’s gratitude to our African brothers and sisters for always standing by Cuba.
Pretoria, 05 March, 2026.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba rejects in the strongest terms the arbitrary and unjustified decision by the government of Ecuador to expel all personnel from the Cuban Embassy in that country. The Ministry categorically reaffirms that the staff of the Cuban Embassy in Quito, as established by the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, has strictly complied with Ecuador's laws and regulations without interfering in the internal affairs of that State.
Johannesburg, March 5, 2026.—Cuba’s ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, accompanied by other officials from the diplomatic mission, participated in the launch of the book “Tricontinental, Havana 1966,” which took place at The Forge, in the heart of the South African city. The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, Solly Mapaila, as well as the former Minister of Intelligence and great friend of Cuba, Ronnie Kasrils, were also present.
Pretoria, March 4, 2026. Officials of the Cuban Embassy in South Africa participated in a tribute held in Freedom Park in honor of Venezuelan leader Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías on the thirteenth anniversary of his passing. In this symbolic tribute, Cuban Ambassador Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo referred to Chávez as “Cuba's best friend,” as Fidel had described him, and noted that he will always be present in the hearts of all Cubans.
