The Vice-President of the Republic of South Africa receives the Cuban Ambassador.

Pretoria, 5 June 2026. — The Vice-President of South Africa, Paul Mashatile, received the Cuban Ambassador, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, on a courtesy visit. During the cordial meeting, the parties highlighted the historic ties of friendship and cooperation that unite the governments and peoples of South Africa and Cuba.

South African Left Conference voices support for Cuba.

Pretoria, 1 June 2026. — The Left Conference took place between 29 and 31 May and was attended by 103 organisations and around 340 delegates. Under the slogan ‘Building a left-wing movement for the working class and popular power’, intense debates took place regarding the role of progressive forces today.

Pretoria, 29 May 2026. — The Cuban Ambassador, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, and the Minister-Counsellor, Jesús Perz, gave interviews to Radio 786 in Cape Town and Pan African TV, respectively, in which they discussed the current situation in Cuba. Both diplomats agreed in highlighting the firm solidarity of South Africa and the African continent with the people of Cuba.

Messages of solidarity with Cuba have been received from the South African Parliament.

Pretoria, 27 May 2026. — During the debate in the National Assembly on the budget for the Foreign Ministry’s operations, speeches by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alvin Botes and MP Andisiwe Kumbaca reflected unconditional support for Cuba. The people of Cuba are grateful for the continued solidarity with our cause, which is also that of all peoples fighting for justice, self-determination and independence.
