Messages of solidarity with Cuba have been received from the South African Parliament.

Pretoria, 27 May 2026. — During the debate in the National Assembly on the budget for the Foreign Ministry’s operations, speeches by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alvin Botes and MP Andisiwe Kumbaca reflected unconditional support for Cuba. The people of Cuba are grateful for the continued solidarity with our cause, which is also that of all peoples fighting for justice, self-determination and independence. 

The 62nd Africa Day was commemorated by reaffirming commitment to continental solidarity. .

Pretoria, 25 May 2026. — The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in South Africa commemorates the 62nd Africa Day, celebrated across the continent on 25 May, the date marking the anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, now the African Union. Cuba-Africa solidarity is not history; it is the present and the future.

Cape Town, 21 May 2026. — The Cuban Ambassador, Fakri Rodríguez, attended the premier of the documentary "Cuba after Castro" in South Africa. The event was organized by our friends at FOCUS Western Cape. The event was well attended by a large audience interested in the reality of life in Cuba. 

ANC Parliamentary Caucus ratifies support for Cuba

Cape Town, 21 May 2026. — During a visit to the South African Parliament, the Cuban Ambassador, Fakri Rodríguez, met with members of the ANC Parliamentary Caucus, who also form part of an International Relations study group within the National Assembly. The exchange was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
