The Moncada Anniversary was Commemorated in South Africa

Pretoria, 23 July 2026 — The Cuban Embassy in South Africa organised a moving commemorative ceremony to mark the 73rd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. The gathering took place at the Javett Theatre at the University of Pretoria. The event brought together Cubans living in Pretoria, Cubans working in South Africa and friends in solidarity with the Cuban cause, for a day of commitment to Cuba and revolutionary reaffirmation.

Strong condemnation of the State Department’s latest smear campaign

Cuba condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the report published on 20 July by the US State Department concerning Cuba’s alleged subversive influence against that country. This is a shoddy propaganda pamphlet. It seeks to bolster the mendacious message that Cuba constitutes a threat to the United States, a pretext that the US government uses to justify collective punishment and genocide against the Cuban people. By fabricating accusatory narratives, it aims to build consensus for a potential military aggression.

Cuba and the Pan-African Parliament strengthen parliamentary cooperation.

Pretoria, 21 July 2026. —The Cuban Ambassador, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, held a productive meeting with the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Dr Fateh Boutbig. The meeting, held in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect, provided an opportunity to explore concrete ways of strengthening collaboration between Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power and the Pan-African Parliament in areas of common interest.

Cuba strengthens business ties at the South African Manufacturing Indaba.

Sandton, 14 July 2026. —The Cuban Embassy in South Africa participated in the Manufacturing Indaba 2026, held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on 14 and 15 July, one of the leading forums for manufacturers, investors, public officials and stakeholders in the industrial sector in Africa.

Cuban Embassy held meeting with the leadership of the ANCYL.

Pretoria, 7 July 2026. —The Cuban Ambassador received Collen Malatji, President of the African National Congress (ANC) Youth League, at the embassy; he was accompanied by members of the organization’s leadership.  During the meeting, the deep and enduring friendship between the peoples of Cuba and South Africa was highlighted. The South African youth delegation reaffirmed its firm commitment to Cuba’s sovereignty and self-determination.
