Cuba and Lebanon strengthen commercial ties

Lebanese businessman Mohamed Zeidan, Chairman of Phoenicia International Holding S.A.L. and Ambassador Jorge León Cruz, held a working meeting in which they valued as very positive the recent visit to Cuba to participate in the Annual Habano Festival.

During the meeting they also discussed issues related to the consolidation of trade links, especially the commercialization of Cuban cigars, between Lebanon and Cuba.

Ambassador Jorge León Cruz, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Palestine, Ashraf Dabour, where it was confirmed that Cuba reiterates the urgent need to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two States, allowing the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign State within the pre-1967 borders and the right of return of Palestinian refugees.

During a wide-ranging exchange with Lebanese businessman Mr. Fawaz Mourad, director of Al Fardouss International, Lebanon (AFIL), the interest in completing a working visit to Cuba to resume cooperation negotiations in the oil sector was confirmed.

Mr. Mourad was pleased to recall his previous visits to Cuba and hopes to make one during the first half of this year.

Ambassador Jorge León Cruz, together with members of GRULAC and other colleagues of the diplomatic corps accredited in Lebanon, held a pleasant, broad and positive discussion with the Director of the World Bank for Middle East countries, Jean-Christophe Carret, and the President of the Leaders of the Association of Lebanese Businessmen, Nicolas Boukather.
