More than 100 parliamentarians, trade union leaders, academics and cultural figures have joined the "Urgent Appeal for Peace and Sovereignty" promoted by the Campaign for Solidarity with Cuba (CSC), bringing the total number of signatures in defence of international law to more than 4,000.

The executive order issued by the US President on January 29, 2026, declares a supposed national emergency, under which his government will be able to impose trade tariffs on imports of products from countries that supply oil to Cuba.
